Marshall Wedding Weekend

This June I was honored to stand by my little’s side as she married her best friend and partner for the last 7 years.  They had a beautiful ceremony and reception at a Washington vineyard and the weather was absolutely perfect.  I loved that the weekend turned into a mini Theta and SigEp reunion and it was nice seeing where people are four years after I graduated.

We drove up to Missoula on Wednesday so I could show William where I spent four years of my life.  We had lunch at Tamarack brewing, wandered around UM’s campus, spent the night at my friend Rachel’s and went to a couple bars after dinner at the IHo.  The next morning we stopped at a salon for me to get my nails done and grabbed brunch at Cracker Barrel on our way out of town to Coeur D’Alene since we had to be at the vineyard that afternoon for rehearsal.

When we got to Spokane, we forgot that the time zone had changed so we had an extra hour of time to kill.  We decided to drive up to the vineyard early and explore along the way – we found a really charming orchard where I had the best huckleberry lemonade and we found some cute pieces for our home.  The rehearsal was easy and afterwards we all headed to the groom’s parent’s house for a barbecue.  It was such a nice night and a great way to start the wedding festivities.

Friday William and I were on our own until the rehearsal dinner that night so we wandered down to lake Couer D’Alene and around downtown.  We found a great local coffee shop where I enjoyed a soy lavender latte and found a fun home decor store where we bought our wine rack.  Rachel and Heather met us for lunch at a local beer bar before the four of us headed into Spokane to meet Rachel’s Aunt Diane for a few drinks.  The rehearsal dinner was on the riverfront and just a perfect evening to dine al fresco before all the bridesmaids headed to the resort hotel for the night.

Saturday saw all of us up early to a beautiful sunrise over the lake before we got in our robes and headed to Starbucks before the salon for hair and makeup.  It was a fun girly morning getting dolled up and spending time together.  The sweetest moment of the day was when the matron of honor prayed over Kyle and Jenny’s marriage.  The ceremony was beautiful and I loved the pastor’s message for the two of them and how they chose to incorporate their faith into the ceremony with washing each other’s feet and sharing communion.  I had never seen foot washing as part of a wedding ceremony before.

Sunday morning we headed back home to Idaho and my parents came to visit for the week.

Celebrating one of my dearest friends committing to do life together with her best friend was a special moment this year and a weekend full of JOY.
