Favorite Holiday

My favorite holiday is hands down Thanksgiving. The focus on being grateful for the year’s blessings and the joys in our life just makes my heart sing.

Growing up, sometimes we’d do Thanksgiving with family friends, sometimes we’d celebrate with family in Pittsburgh, and sometimes it would just be our nuclear family. It all depended on where we were living at the time. William and I went to a Friendsgiving our first year together in Idaho, and last year we hosted Friendsgiving. This year, my parents and brother are coming out to New York to celebrate with us.

I love starting the day with a cup of coffee and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I love the rich, delicious food and the cozy clothes. I love watching football in the afternoon. I love that Thanksgiving weekend extends to the Iron Bowl. I love our family tradition from childhood of going to see a movie on Black Friday, and going to the lighting festivals in whatever town we were living in. It’s the start of the holiday season and I love that it starts from a place of Thanksgiving and family togetherness.
